This solo-project-turned-three-piece from the Toronto area is no stranger to the black metal underground. The Devil and the Whore, the group's debut offering since being signed to Barbarian Wrath, offers few surprises to those familiar with ring-leader ChorazaiM's previous work on the band's demos. Megiddo plays sick, twisted, unholy black metal the way it was meant to be played. This is an excellent album. The band has evolved from the use of a drum machine to the use of a real drummer for this album, and it shows. The production is clean, the mix is good, and the vocals are sick. There are no synths, sound effects or cheesy gothic imagery here folks; just pure black metal. This album suffers however, in that there are few memorable songs. Don't get me wrong though; this is a solid album. All of the songs are well written and well played, and the album is well produced. This album won't be a classic, but it is surely worth a listen. 8.5/10 Teufel.
