I’m not going to even bother going into detail about this demo, it doesn’t deserve the title ‘black metal’. It is, in fact, the antithesis of real black metal: it has over reliance on the synthesizer and is brimming with melody without any hint of ugliness in sight (except for a few ‘evil’ vocals). It is also, to me at any rate, devoid of all cold or hate. The production is nice, tidy and almost pop-like in its clarity. The laughable lyrics are, according to the band, “based on self experience and mean no harm to the innocent”. Need I say more? Understand that these guys are not bad musicians, far from it actually. Moreover, they aren’t ‘vampire’ posers like Cradle of Filth, nor do they carry any pretence of being “true fucking black metal”. They just want their music to stand for what it is and be judged for what it is. I can clearly envision what they are attempting to do with the synth, and it’s much more intelligent and innovative than many of the commercial bands that are out there today. If I could evaluate them strictly as a metal band they’d get a solid 7/10. They, however, made the mistake of claiming to be black metal. This site is a black metal review site, and we must evaluate them through the looking glass of the genre. They fail miserably. 1.5/10 Azaras.
